Ingredients

The following ingredients have 12 Servings
  • 5 cup plain flour
  • 70 g caster sugar
  • 2 tbs dry yeast
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 cup sultanas
  • 300 ml milk room temperature
  • 100 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 125 g water room temperature
  • 3 tbs caster sugar
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 200C and line a baking tin.
  • In a bowl - combine plain flour, sugar, yeast, cinnamon, sultanas and pinch of salt. Mix to combine.
  • Warm milk and butter in a saucepan over a low heat until butter melts and mixture is tepid. Add egg to milk and butter and whisk all together so its combined.
  • Add milk mix to flour mix and stir till combined.
  • Turn dough mixture onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes or until dough has come together and is smooth on top.
  • Lightly oil a bowl - and put dough in with a cover (tea towel or plastic wrap) and put in a warm place for about an hour or until dough doubles in size.
  • When ready - cut dough up into 12-16 portions (depending on how big you like your buns). Roll into balls and place into a square tin - lined up next to each other. Cover again - and rest for about 30-40 minutes.
  • Bake in 200C oven for about 20-30 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Meanwhile, for the glaze, dissolve sugar, cinnamon and water in a saucepan over low heat until the sugar is combined - and thickens up.
  • Turn buns out of tin onto a wire rack. Brush tops with glaze while still hot. Allow to cool.
