Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1 1/4 cup Fireball Whiskey
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 5 large Honeycrisp apples (cut into chunks)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 box spice cake mix
  • 1 stick butter (melted)

Instruction

  • In a large pot over high heat whisk together 1 cup of the the Fireball Whiskey, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, add the apple chunks and stir. When it comes back up to a boil, reduce the heat to medium low.
  • Cook this mixture, stirring occasionally for 12 minutes.
  • In a small bowl mix together the remaining 1/4 cup of the Fireball and the cornstarch. Bring the apples back up to a boil, add the cornstarch and Fireball mixture. Boil and stir for 2 minutes to thicken.
  • Pour the apple mixture into a 9 x 13 dish.
  • Mix the dry spice cake mix and the melted butter together. Crumble over top of the apple mixture.
  • Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes.
