- 2 cups basil leaves ((loosely packed), stalks reserved)

- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 onion (, finely diced)
- 5 garlic cloves (, finely minced)
- 600ml / 20oz tomato passata ((Note 3))
