- 1/4 cup water
- 5 large egg whites
- 16 ounces unsalted butter, (cubed and at room temperature)
- 2 tablespoons good quality eggnog
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 3-4 tablespoons dark or spiced rum, (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg, (plus more for cake garnish)
