Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 2 lbs bone in, skin on chicken thighs
  • 1 tbsp ghee ((or other cooking oil))
  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp molasses
  • 1 lime, juice of
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp sage
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Instruction

  • Make the seasoning by adding all of the seasoning ingredients to a small bowl or jar and mixing. Rub the seasoning mix on both sides of the chicken.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add ghee. Once hot, add in the chicken, skin side down to cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook on the other side for another 2-3 minutes. Transfer chicken to the slow cooker.
  • While the chicken is cooking, add the coconut aminos, chicken broth, lime juice and molasses to a small bowl. Whisk to mix.
  • Pour the broth mixture in with the chicken. Place the lid on the slow cooker and set to cook on high for 3 hours or on low for 6 hours.
  • Carefully remove the chicken and serve. If desired, pour some of the juices from the slow cooker over the chicken when serving.
