Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 1 16.3 oz tube canned biscuits (8 count) (i.e. Grands)
- 3 large Granny Smith apples (to equal 3 cups) (peeled, cored and cubed)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp apple pie spice or ground cinnamon (may adjust to taste)
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 1 Tbsp cold water (plus additional to thicken, as needed)
- powdered sugar for dusting
- canola oil or vegetable oil for frying
Instruction
- In a medium size saucepan over medium heat, cook apples, granulated and brown sugar, apple pie spice and salt. Cook for 15 minutes or just until softened.
- Increase heat to medium-high. Add cornstarch dissolved in water stirring constantly until thickened. Repeat 1 Tbsp cornstarch dissolved in water until mixture reaches desired thickeness, Chill for 30 minutes or overnight.
- To assemble: Preheat oil to 350-360°F. On a lightly floured surface press or roll each biscuit into a 6 inch round.
- Divide apple pie filling among rounds. Fold biscuit dough over forming a crescent. Press edges to seal with a fork.
- Fry in batches for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden. Remove with a slotted spoon to a paper towel lined platter to drain,
- Serve warm dusted with powdered sugar.
