Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Milk ((I used Horizon® Chocolate Protein Milk))
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons (8 -16 g) cocoa powder ((or more for an intense chocolate flavor))
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons (36 g) granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 - 6 tablespoons butter
  • 6 slices bread (thick slices, approx. 1 inch)
  • 6 big marshmallows ((optional))
  • Chocolate syrup to drizzle (to taste (optional))
  • Roasted coconut flakes (to taste (optional))
  • Small marshmallows to decorate (to taste (optional))

Instruction

  • Mix chocolate milk, cocoa, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and salt shallow dish.
  • Dip bread in milk mixture, turning to coat both sides evenly.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the bread slices until golden brown, 3 - 4 minutes per side. Wipe skillet and repeat with remaining butter and bread. At this point, the chocolate French toast is ready to eat.
  • If you don't want to add any toppings, dust with confectioner’s sugar, if desired, and serve warm with pure maple syrup and fresh berries. If you want the marshmallow version, follow the steps below.
