Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 1 box dark chocolate cake mix (or Devil’s Food or even German Chocolate Cake mix)
- 1/2 cup melted butter, (1 stick)
- 1 large egg
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk, divided
- 1 bag caramels, unwrapped (14-oz)
- 1-1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instruction
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 13×9-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, stir together cake mix, melted butter, beaten egg, and 1/3 cup evaporated milk until well blended. Press half of the dough in the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 5-6 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, heat caramels and the remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk over low heat, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
- Remove the brownies from the oven, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the partially baked layer. Then spoon the caramel mixture over the chocolate chips. Finally, drop by spoonfuls the remaining brownie dough batter over the caramel mixture.
- Bake 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted 1-inch from the side of the pan comes out clean. The brownies will not be completely set. Cool in the pan on a metal rack for 30 minutes. Then refrigerate for 1 hour before cutting into 24 bars.
