Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1 3/4 cup plain flour
  • 3/4 cup self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp mixed spice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 egg beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 125 g margarine melted
  • 1 cup golden syrup

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 180C and grease or line a 20 cm square cake pan.
  • Sift flours, bicarbonate of soda and spices into a large bowl.
  • Add sugar, eggs and milk. Mix well.
  • Place margarine and golden syrup into a small saucepan and stir over a low heat until just combined.
  • Stir into the flour mixture and mix well. The mixture will be slightly lumpy.
  • Spoon into pan and bake for about 1 hour.
