Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 /2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, (softened)
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs, (preferably pasteurized)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups Bisquick
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for serving

Instruction

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Using an electric mixer, cream butter until light and fluffy.
  • Add both sugar and beat until combined well.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, stopping to scrape down sides of bowl at least once.
  • Beat in vanilla extract.
  • Add flour mixture and mix just until incorporated.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Shape dough into balls using about 1 tablespoon for each one.
  • Place on a parchment or wax paper lined tray and freeze for 1 hour.
  • Pour about 2 inches of oil into a Dutch oven and heat to 350 degrees. I use a thermometer to make sure the oil stays at the right temperature.
  • To make batter, whisk together Bisquick and milk in a medium bowl. If too thick, stir in a little extra milk.
  • Dip about 4 balls into the batter at a time, leaving the remaining ones in freezer until needed.
  • Fry until golden brown and remove to a paper towel-lined plate. Repeat with remaining dough balls.
  • Serve immediately or keep warm in a 200 degree oven.
