Ingredients
The following ingredients have 12 Servings
- 2 cups 260g All purpose flour
- 1 cup 163g Pitted dates (( about 18 no))
- ¼ cup butter
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground cloves
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup yogurt/ butter milk
- 1 large egg
Instruction
- Pre heat oven to 350°F/ 176°C. Grease a 9 x5 inch pan with butter and flour and line with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a medium bowl mix, flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda , cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg and set aside.
- Mean while add 1 tbsp flour mix to chopped dates and coat well. This will help to prevent the dates from sinking to the bottom while baking.
- In another bowl beat soften butter with sugar once it is creamed well incorporate egg and mix once again. Then add yogurt and combine everything.
- To this add dry ingredients in two batches and mix well so that is just combined do not over mix.
- Finally fold in the dates and transfer the cake batter to prepared loaf tin. And bake at 350°F/ 176°C for 45-50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
- Then slice and serve.
