Ingredients

The following ingredients have 6 Servings
  • 2 Pounds Dried Split Peas
  • 64 Ounces Low-Sodium Chicken Broth
  • 1 Pound Carrots (Diced)
  • 1 Medium Yellow Onion (Peeled And Finely Diced)
  • 1 Pound Ham (Diced)
  • Salt And Pepper (To Taste)

Instruction

  • Add split peas, chicken broth, carrots, onion and ham to a 5 quart or larger slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours until peas break down and soup becomes very thick.
  • Add water to loosen, if necessary.
  • To help peas break down, about 5 hours in, use a potato masher to break them up.
  • Taste soup and season with salt and pepper if needed.
