Ingredients
The following ingredients have 12 Servings
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons orange zest
- 1/3 cup of butter
- 1 cup dried cranberries
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- For glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
Instruction
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Zest an orange to get 2 teaspoons of zest.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and orange zest.
- Cut in butter with a fork until the mixture becomes dry and crumbly.
- Add dried cranberries and stir.
- In a small bowl, combine egg and buttermilk.
- Pour into larger bowl and mix until a dough forms.
- Turn onto a floured surface to knead.
- Line a baking pan with parchment paper and place the dough on it.
- Form the dough into a 10 inch circle and slice using a pizza cutter. You can easily make 10-12 slices.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes until the tops of the scones start to brown.
- To make the glaze, combine the powdered sugar and the orange juice until there is smooth mixture with no lumps.
- Drizzle the glaze over the scones.
