Ingredients

The following ingredients have 12 Servings
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 1/3 cup of butter
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • For glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Zest an orange to get 2 teaspoons of zest.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and orange zest.
  • Cut in butter with a fork until the mixture becomes dry and crumbly.
  • Add dried cranberries and stir.
  • In a small bowl, combine egg and buttermilk.
  • Pour into larger bowl and mix until a dough forms.
  • Turn onto a floured surface to knead.
  • Line a baking pan with parchment paper and place the dough on it.
  • Form the dough into a 10 inch circle and slice using a pizza cutter. You can easily make 10-12 slices.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes until the tops of the scones start to brown.
  • To make the glaze, combine the powdered sugar and the orange juice until there is smooth mixture with no lumps.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the scones.
