Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1/4 pound Bacon (sliced into 1-inch strips)
  • Three 14 1/2-ounce can whole Green Beans
  • 1/4 Onion (peeled and chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper (to taste)

Instruction

  • Place a 2-quart saucepan over medium high heat.
  • Add bacon. Cook, stirring so it doesn't stick, until lightly browned, but not crisp.
  • Add green beans and liquid.
  • Add salt, sugar and pepper, Stir to mix.
  • Scatter onion on top of green beans.
  • Cover saucepan with a lid.
  • Bring to a light boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for 45 minutes.
  • Taste. Add more salt and pepper, to taste, if needed.
  • Serve hot.
