Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 2 cups (240 grams) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup finely diced apple
- 1 cup milk*
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon ( divided)
Instruction
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9x3x5 loaf pan with cooking spray, or line it with parchment paper; set aside. Stir together flour, baking powder, salt and 1/2 cup sugar. Cut in butter until it forms to coarse crumbs. I grated my stick of butter using a cheese grater. Reserve 1/2 cup of this mixture for the topping; set aside.
- Stir in apples and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon to the remaining mixture.
- In a small bowl, mix egg and milk well. Add to apple/flour mixture and stir until just combined.
- Pour batter into loaf pan. Add remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of sugar to the reserved flour mixture. Stir together until blended, then sprinkle over top of the batter in the loaf pan. Press down lightly.
- Bake in the center of the oven for 55-60 minutes, or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. My bread was done in 55 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes prior to cutting and serving.
