Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar plus 1 tbsp for sprinkling on top
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 4 ounces unsalted butter, cold
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ¾ cup butterscotch chips
- ¼ cup heavy cream or milk
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
Instruction
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- in a medium sized bowl, whisk together the flour, ½ cup sugar, cinnamon, baking powder and baking soda.
- Grate the butter into the flour mixture and then use your hands to rub it into a crumbly mixture.
- Add the buttermilk and butterscotch chips and mix gently until a dough forms.
- Dump the dough onto your flour dusted work surface and gently knead a few times until the dough is in a ball shape.
- With a rolling pin, roll the dough into a circle about 8-10 inches wide and about an inch thick.
- Cut the circle into 8 even sized wedges like a pizza an dtransfer to your prepared baking pan.
- Brush each scone with the cream/milk and sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of sugar on top.
- Place in the oven and bake for 15-17 minutes.
- When the scones are baking , make the glaze.
- In a small bowl combine the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Warm the glaze in the microwave for 10 seconds.
- Once the scones are done drizzle the glaze over them and serve at once.
