Ingredients

The following ingredients have 5 Servings
  • 90 g (3 oz) oats
  • 1/2 red (bell pepper sliced)
  • 1 red onion sliced
  • 1 to mato sliced
  • 1 tsp smoked chipotle paste
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 handfuls chopped coriander (cilantro)
  • 450 g (1lb) cooked black beans
  • 1 handful of chopped roasted cashews (optional)
  • Oil (for frying)
  • Burger baps (optional)
  • Toppings such as red onions (salad, tomatoes, chipotle ketchup etc)

Instruction

  • Blend all the burger ingredients excluding the beans and cashews.
  • Then add in beans and process to the coarseness you prefer.
  • Add in the cashews if using and then mould into burger shapes - they will be a little wet.
  • Freeze the shaped burgers for a couple of hrs.
  • Heat the frying pan with a dribble of oil.
  • Then fry on low heat for about 5-7 mins.
  • Flip and cook on the other side on medium heat until cooked (5-7)
  • Serve with onions, salad green, tomatoes, burger sauces and sweet potato fries.
