Ingredients

The following ingredients have 2 Servings
  • 8 oz pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons corn meal
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 10 tablespoons pizza sauce
  • 15 pepperonis
  • 1/3 cup sausage (crumbled)
  • 1 cup mozzarella
  • 4 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parlsey (for topping)

Instruction

  • Preheat the oven to 500 F / 260 C. Place a seasoned 9x9 cast iron skillet over medium heat on the stove top. Dust the cast iron with corn meal.
  • Roll the pizza dough about 1/4 inch thin and about 10x10 round. You want the edges of the cast iron to be covered. Carefully press the dough into the skillet, pressing the excess dough up against the sides.
  • In a small bowl, melt the butter and stir in the garlic powder. Use a brush to spread all but about 1-2 tablespoons of the garlic butter onto the pizza dough. Use a fork to poke holes in the center of the dough to help it vent and not puff up too much while cooking.
  • One to two tablespoons at a time, spread the pizza sauce onto the dough in an even layer, leaving some edges. Arrange the pepperonis and sausage, and any additional toppings, on the sauce. Cover with the remaining sauce.
  • Spread the mozzarella cheese across the top of the dough, leaving the crust exposed (as desired). Brush any exposed crust with the remaining garlic butter.
  • Place the cast iron skillet into the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the mozzarella cheese is melted and beginning to bubble.
  • Let the pizza rest for a few minutes prior to serving. Loosen the edges of the pizza from the cast iron skillet and move to a cutting board. Sprinkle on Parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, and fresh parsley, as desired. Cut, serve, and enjoy!
