Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 2/3 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9x13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and molasses using an electric mixer.
  • Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  • Stir in the flour, ginger, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
  • Use a rubber spatula to spread the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool completely before frosting.
  • To make the frosting, beat together the cream  cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl until smooth and creamy.
  • Spread frosting over the cooled bars and serve.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
