  • 1 whole egg yolk
  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 slices hearty white or wheat sandwich bread (roughly torn)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, tarragon or chervil)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
