Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 22 ozs Sausage (or sausage meat)
  • 1 onion (peeled and finely diced)
  • 1 clove garlic cloves (peeled and finely diced)
  • 1 chili pepper (trimmed and finely chopped)
  • 2 Tbsps olive oil
  • 1.5 cups chopped tomatoes (from a can)
  • 8 cups Fusilli
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 ball Mozzarella
  • salt
  • freshly ground peppers
  • Basil (to garnish)

Instruction

  • Squeeze the sausages out of their skins and break into pieces (or break the sausage meat into pieces). Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the pieces of sausage meat until golden brown. Take out of the pan.
  • Put the onion, garlic and chili into the pan and sweat until soft. Add the tomatoes, return the sausage meat balls to the pan, cover, and simmer gently for about 10 minutes.
  • Preheat the grill.
  • Meanwhile cook the pasta in boiling, salted water according to the package instructions until al dente.
  • Add the peas for the last minute, then drain both together.
  • Mix with the sausage meat and tomato sauce, season to taste with salt and pepper, and transfer to a baking dish.
  • Slice the mozzarella, lay on top of the pasta and put under the hot grill for 4-5 minutes. Serve garnished with basil leaves.
