- 4 to 5 tablespoons dark brown sugar (plus more if needed)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 tablespoons Shaoxing wine or dry sherry
- 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
- 2 teaspoons store-bought or homemade Sriracha
- Toasted sesame seeds (optional)
- Chopped scallions (optional)
- Blanched vegetables (steamed rice and/or buns)
