Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 1 1/2 cup yellow split peas washed
- 2 tsp black mustard seeds
- 12 fresh curry leaves
- 1 tbs ground cumin
- 3 cm fresh ginger minced
- 4 garlic clove minced
- 1 tbs ground turmeric
- 1 tomato diced
- 1 onion diced
- 2 tsp coriander seeds ground
- 1 tbs canola oil
- 1 cup plain yoghurt *to serve
- 1 pinch fresh coriander *to decorate
- 1 cup tomato diced *to decorate
Instruction
- Heat oil and add mustard seeds until they pop.
- Add cumin, coriander seeds, turmeric and curry leaves, and fry until fragrant.
- Add ginger, garlic, onion and fry off gently.
- Add tomato to make curry paste.
- Add dahl and 6 cups of water.
- Simmer for 1½ hours until dahl is tender and cooked as desired.
- Serve with rice and roti.
