Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 1 tsp ground Turmeric
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 cup Lard
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 Tbsp sunflower oil
  • 0.667 cup Minced Beef
  • 0.5 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 clove garlic cloves (finely chopped)
  • 0.5 habanero Chili (deseeded and finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp Curry paste
  • 2 large tomatoes (deseeded and finely diced)
  • 1 Tbsp thyme (finely chopped)
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs

Instruction

  • Whizz the pastry ingredients in a food processor or rub together until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add just enough water to form a stiff dough, wrap in cling film and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Heat the oven to 200C (180C fan) 400F, gas 6.
  • Heat the oil in a wide pan and cook the beef until browned all over. Add the onion, garlic and chilli and cook for a further 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the curry paste, diced tomatoes and thyme, cook for 5 more minutes then add the breadcrumbs and season with salt and pepper.
  • Divide the pastry into 8 pieces and roll each one out to a circle about 12 cm in diameter.
  • Place a little of the filling onto the circles, fold over and press the edges together with a fork.
  • Place the patties on a greased baking sheet and bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
