Ingredients

The following ingredients have 9 Servings
  • 4 tablespoons (2 ounces) unsalted butter
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 12 ounces beer (room temperature (use your favorite!))

Instruction

  • Place the butter in a stainless saucepan over low heat until melted. Once melted, increase the heat to medium high and cook until the butter foams and brown spots are visible along the bottom of the pan, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and pour 1 tablespoon of the brown butter into the bottom of a standard loaf pan and brush well along the sides.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Add the maple syrup and the beer and stir just until combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Pour the remaining 3 tablespoons of brown butter over the top of the batter.
  • Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and cool completely.
