Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 8 Slices Bread
  • ½ Cup Ghee
  • 10 Almonds
  • 15 Cashews
  • 4 Cardamom
  • 2 Cup Milk
  • ½ Cup Sugar ((Heaped))

Instruction

  • Trim the edges of the bread slices and keep aside. Then, measure and keep all the ingredients ready.
  • To a dry mixer, pulse the almonds, cardamom and cashews to a powder (you can skip this powdered nuts and follow the remaining steps, but it lends more richness) Reserve about 7 to 8 cashews.
  • Slice the bread slices into medium-sized cubes and keep by aside.
  • To a pan, pour the milk and add the sugar. Boil the milk for 4 to 5 minutes till the sugar dissolves.
  • Boil the milk for 4 to 5 minutes till the sugar dissolves completely. To a heavy-bottomed pan, pour the ghee.
  • Add the cashews, fry till golden colour and keep it separately.
  • To the same ghee, add the sliced bread pieces. Fry it in low flame, till the bread turns crispy.
  • Now, pour the boiled milk with sugar and cook in medium flame till the bread turns soft. Then, add the powdered almonds and cashews. Also, add 2 to 3 tsp of ghee for more flavour.
  • Add the fried cashews, mix everything well. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the ghee separates and the halwa leaves the sides of the pan.Enjoy this Bread Halwa Recipe warm or cold with Poha / Aval Mixture.
