Ingredients
The following ingredients have 6 Servings
- 2 Tbsps Oil
- 6.5 cups braising Beef (cubed)
- 4 slices Bacon (cut into strips)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 3.25 cups carrots (thickly sliced)
- 2 Tbsps all-purpose flour
- 2 cups dark beer (or stout)
- 3 tsps dark brown sugar
- 2 Tbsps tomato puree
- salt
- peppers
- 1 Tbsp Treacle
- 1 tsp Juniper Berry (crushed)
- parsley
Instruction
- Preheat the slow cooker if necessary – see manufacturer’s instructions.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a frying pan and fry the meat in batches until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Heat the remaining oil in the pan and cook the bacon, onion and carrots for about 5 minutes until browned.
- Stir in the flour, followed by the beer, sugar, tomato puree and a good seasoning of salt and pepper.
- Bring to a boil and stir in the treacle and juniper berries.
- Transfer to the slow cooker pot. Cover and cook on high for 5-6 hours until the beef is tender.
- Serve garnished with chopped parsley.
