Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1.5 cups celery (chopped, about 4 stalks)
  • 1.5 cups carrots (chopped, about 2 large carrots)
  • 1 large onion (diced)
  • 1 large green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced, or 1 tsp jarred minced garlic)
  • 28 oz can whole tomatoes
  • 10.75 oz tomato soup (1 can)
  • 15 oz tomato sauce (1 can)
  • 12 oz tomato paste (1 can)
  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp crushed dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

Instruction

  • Brown ground beef in a large pot. Drain, leaving about 2 tablespoons of fat.
  • Add the celery, carrot, onion, green bell pepper and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until vegetables start to soften and are fragrant, about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Add remaining ingredients to the pot, stir to combine everything. Lower heat, and allow sauce to simmer, uncovered, for about 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
