Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tbl cold butter (, cut into cubes)
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 3/4 cup buttermilk
Instruction
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
- Grease and flour a round cake pan and then set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt.
- Whisk the dry ingredients together.
- Slowly stir in the buttermilk and cut in the butter pieces.
- Start mixing the dough together with your hands.
- Once all of the buttermilk has been added, turn your dough out on a floured surface and kneed it together a few times, forming it into a ball.
- Press the ball into the prepared cake pan and cut an X into the top with a sharp knife, going about 1/4 of an inch deep into the bread.
- Cover the pan with the other round cake pan, turned upside down.
- Bake for 30 minutes and then remove the top and bake for another 10 minutes or until the crust has darkened to your liking.
- Serve immediately.
