Ingredients

The following ingredients have 6 Servings
  • 3 cup plain flour, sifted
  • 3 teaspoon baking powder ((omit if using self-raising flour)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup grated parmesan
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 375 millilitre can of beer
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • butter, to serve

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to moderately hot, 190°C. Lightly grease an oven tray.
  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt together into a large bowl. Stir in parmesan, parsley and caster sugar.
  • Make a well in the centre of dry ingredients. Pour in beer. Using a bread-and-butter knife, mix quickly to a soft, sticky dough. Do not over-mix.
  • Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly. Form into a round. Place on tray. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until it sounds hollow when tapped. Cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with butter.
