Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 5 tablespoon(s) all purpose flour
  • 60 gram(s) butter (4 tbsp. or 1/2 cup)
  • 1 medium onion, cut in strips
  • 1 liter(s) homemade beef stock (4 cubes)
  • 100 gram(s) grated gruyere cheese (1 to 1-1/4 cups)
  • 1 dash(es) red wine, if desired

Instruction

  • Cook the flour in a dry, hot skillet until light brown. Add butter to flour and mix.
  • Add onions and cook until softened, about 10 or 15 minutes. Add beef stock, bring to a boil, and simmer 20 minutes. Serve with grated cheese.
  • Add a dash of red wine if desired.
