Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 1 large banana
- 1 ounce dark rum such as Gosling
- 1 generous tbsp. butter
- 3 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1/4 tsp. orange zest
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream, or as needed
Instruction
- Cut banana in half, remove the peel and discard it. Cut it in half lengthwise and set aside.
- In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add rum and keep it warm until ready to use – don’t let it simmer!
- In a medium skillet over medium heat, add butter and when it’s melted, add brown sugar and freshly squeezed orange juice. Stir until the ingredients are well blended and bring to a simmer.
- When the mixture is simmering, add the banana pieces cut side down and let them sit, undisturbed, for a minute before spooning the sauce over; cook for 2 minutes.
- Carefully flip them over and add orange zest; cook for another 2 minutes.
- Take the saucepan and ignite the rum. Then pour it over the banana pieces – let the flame subside.
- Serve it immediately with a nice big scoop of vanilla ice cream and pour the delicious sauce over.
