Ingredients
The following ingredients have 20 Servings
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups plus 2/3 cup grated Asiago cheese divided
- 2 tbsp dry yeast
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp granulated garlic
- 1 tsp granulated onion
- 1 tsp minced fresh garlic-optional
- 2 cups hot tap water (120-130 degrees F)
- 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Instruction
- In a large bowl combine the flour, 1 1/2 cups of grated Asiago, yeast, sugar, salt, Italian seasoning, rosemary, pepper flakes, garlics, onion and water until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured work surface and knead until a smooth ball forms.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled clean bowl and place it seam side down in the bowl.
- Cover with a clean towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough in half and form into two smooth dough balls.
- Place the dough balls on a baking sheet pan and gently flatten the surface a little.
- Using a sharp knife cut three slits on each loaf and drizzle with the olive oil. Sprinkle remaining Asiago cheese over the loaves.
- Place the pan on the middle rack of a cold oven and add a pan of hot tap water directly below the dough pan.
- Close the oven and set teh temperature to 400 degrees F.
- Bake for 40 minutes and then let cool on a wire rack.
