Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • Oil (for frying)
  • 2 1/4 cups Biscuit Mix
  • 2/3 cup Club Soda
  • 3 tablespoons Dried Minced Onion
  • 1 tablespoon Cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 300°F.
  • Fill a heavy saucepan or deep fryer with oil to at least 3 inches deep.
  • Place on stovetop and heat to 425°F.
  • In a large bowl, add biscuit mix, club soda, minced onion, cornmeal and onion powder. Mix well.
  • Shape the hush puppies into 1-inch balls.
  • Carefully drop puppies, a few at a time, into hot oil. Fry and turn until evenly browned, about 4 minutes.
  • Using a spider strainer or slotted spoon, remove puppies from oil and place on a paper towel-covered plate to drain.
  • After drained, put puppies on a cookie sheet and place in warmed oven. Repeat frying, draining and warming until all puppies are cooked.
  • Keep warm until ready to serve.
