Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 3 quart(s) water
- 1 gallon apple juice
- 2 cup(s) kosher salt
- 1 cup(s) brown sugar
- 12 - whole cloves
- 2 - cinnamon sticks
- 1 tablespoon(s) black peppercorns
- 1 tablespoon(s) pink peppercorns
- 4 sprig(s) rosemary
- 8 sprig(s) thyme
- 10 clove(s) garlic
- 1 large onion, halved
- 2 large oranges, halved
Instruction
- In a large pan combine salt, sugar, and 1 quart of water.
- Bring to a simmer and simmer until salt and sugar is dissolved. Turn off heat and let cool.
- Add the remaining ingredients to the cooled brine.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until cold.
- Place the turkey in a container large enough to hold the turkey and brine.
- Pour the cold brine over the turkey.
- If there is not enough brine to cover the turkey add more water.
- Cover and brine for 24 hours.
- Remove the turkey and rinse well.
- Then dry.
- Now the turkey is ready to roast.
