Ingredients
The following ingredients have 10 Servings
- 2 medium sized fuji apples (Peeled and Sliced)
- 1 ¼ cups whole wheat flour
- 1 ¼ tsp baking powder
- 1/8 tsp Salt
- A generous pinch of cinnamon powder
- ½ cup + 2 tbsp brown sugar
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ cup fresh cream
- 80 gm unsalted butter
- Lemon Toffee Sauce:
- 50 gm unsalted butter
- ¼ cups powdered brown sugar
- ½ tbsp lemon juice
- A pinch of salt
Instruction
- Sieve whole wheat flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon powder at least 3 times to create proper aeration.
- Melt butter using double boiler method and allow it to cool.
- Take milk in a mixing bowl and dissolve brown sugar.
- Add cream and whisk until it’s slightly fluffy and bubbles are seen.
- Combine the melted butter.
- Fold the sifted mixture in batches into the wet mixture.
- Align a parchment sheet on a baking tray.
- Preheat oven @190.
- Pour the batter and spread it evenly using a spatula.
- Arrange the apple slices on the batter and bake for 40 minutes @190(or until a cake tester comes out clean).
- Meanwhile prepare the lemon toffee sauce.
- Once the baking is completed, allow the tray to cool down for few minutes.
- Pour the sauce over the tray-bake while it is still warm in the pan and gently brush the sauce all over the top of the tray-bake.
- Cut into squares and serve warm or cold.
- Lemon toffee sauce (Prepare this 15 minutes prior to the completion of baking) 1. Melt sugar and butter in a saucepan 2. Add lemon juice and salt. 3. Whisk the mixture in the pan until the mixture is thick, melted and smooth. 4. Turn off the flame.
