Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 14 oz prepared angel food cake
  • 5 large apples (peeled and cut into chunks)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • whipped cream

Instruction

  • If frozen, allow the angel food cake to thaw according to package directions.
  • Meanwhile, melt butter in large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add apples and sauté 6-10 minutes or until tender when pierced with a fork.
  • Dissolve cornstarch in water and add to the pan along with the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Continue to cook at a boil for two minutes (caramel sauce will thicken).
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool 10 minutes, sauce will thicken even more as it cools.
  • To serve, place a slice of angel food cake on plate, top with generous amount of apples, whipped cream, and a drizzle of the sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
