Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 14 oz prepared angel food cake
- 5 large apples (peeled and cut into chunks)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- whipped cream
Instruction
- If frozen, allow the angel food cake to thaw according to package directions.
- Meanwhile, melt butter in large skillet over medium heat.
- Add apples and sauté 6-10 minutes or until tender when pierced with a fork.
- Dissolve cornstarch in water and add to the pan along with the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Continue to cook at a boil for two minutes (caramel sauce will thicken).
- Remove from heat and allow to cool 10 minutes, sauce will thicken even more as it cools.
- To serve, place a slice of angel food cake on plate, top with generous amount of apples, whipped cream, and a drizzle of the sauce.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
