Ingredients
The following ingredients have 9 Servings
- Puff Pastry (thawed)
- 2 apples (cored and diced)
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 30 gms – 2 tbsp butter
- 4 tsp marmalade
- 1 ½ teaspoons apple pie spice mix (click here for the recipe)
- 1 egg (beaten)
Instruction
- Peel and dice the apples into small cubes.
- Put it in a sauce pan with the brown sugar, apple spice mix, butter and marmalade.
- Cook on a low fire until soft. You may need to add a little water, depending on the apples you are using. Let the filling cool down.
- Use a 13 cm – 5 inch round cookie cutter to cut the dough into 8-10 circles.
- Add one heaping tablespoon of filling to the center of each dough circle, leaving as much liquid behind as possible.
- Fold the dough in half and use your fingers or a fork to seal the edges.
- Place hand pies on prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg. Use a pastry brush to lightly brush the tops of the hand pies with the egg wash.
- Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°C – 355°F for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the hand pies to cool and serve.
