Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 3 cup gala apples (chopped)
- 3 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1- french bread (day old loaf cubed into 1 piece)
- 1- brioche bread (day old loaf cubed into 1 piece)
- 2 eggs
- 2 cup milk (whole )
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 tsp cinnamon (ground)
- ⅓ cup flour
- ⅓ cup rolled old fashioned oats
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon (ground )
- ¼ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ cup butter (unsalted cold and cubed into small pieces)
Instruction
- Spray a 9x13 baking dish with pam baking spray and set aside
- Using a large bowl, mix the apples, sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside
- Using a large bowl, combine the french bread and the brioche bread
- Sprinkle half of the bread mixture into the baking dish
- Toss the other half of the bread mixture with the apples and then pour the mixture into the bakingdish
- Using a large bowl, whisk the eggs until lightly beaten
- Whisk in the milk, ½ C sugar, 2 tsp pure vanilla extract, and 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pour the milk mixture over the bread and apples in the baking dish
- Lightly press the bread mixture down to make sure it becomes completely coated in the milk mixture
- Cover with plastic wrap and place into the fridge overnight
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and remove the french toast from the fridge and allow it to rest on the counter for 30 minutes
- Using a medium bowl, make the crumble by whisking the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon andsalt until combined then add in the butter cubes
- Using a pastry or fork, cut the butter into the dry ingredients to create a crumble type mixture
- Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top of the french toast and bake in the oven for 45-60 minutesor until the top is set and firm in the middle If needed, tent with foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the center is setRemove from oven and allow to cool for 45 minutes before servingServe with maple syrup and fresh whipped cream!
