Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 9 inch refrigerated pie crust (thawed to room temperature according to package directions)
  • 6 apples
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • dash salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)

Instruction

  • Fit pie crust into a 9 inch deep dish glass pie plate and set aside.
  • Peel, core, and chop apples into 1 inch pieces.
  • Place chopped apples in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add in sugar, flour, spices, and salt.
  • Stir to coat apples well.
  • Spread apples evenly into pie crust.
  • Place cold butter, flour, and brown sugar, in a smaller mixing bowl.
  • Using a pastry blender, small food processor, or two knives, blend the cold butter into the flour and brown sugar until coarse crumbs form.
  • Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over apples in pie.
  • Cover pie loosely with foil, and bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees.
  • Remove foil and continue baking an additional 25 - 30 minutes or until topping is deep brown.
  • Allow pie to cool before slicing and serving.
