Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 9 inch refrigerated pie crust (thawed to room temperature according to package directions)
- 6 apples
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- dash salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
Instruction
- Fit pie crust into a 9 inch deep dish glass pie plate and set aside.
- Peel, core, and chop apples into 1 inch pieces.
- Place chopped apples in a large mixing bowl.
- Add in sugar, flour, spices, and salt.
- Stir to coat apples well.
- Spread apples evenly into pie crust.
- Place cold butter, flour, and brown sugar, in a smaller mixing bowl.
- Using a pastry blender, small food processor, or two knives, blend the cold butter into the flour and brown sugar until coarse crumbs form.
- Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over apples in pie.
- Cover pie loosely with foil, and bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees.
- Remove foil and continue baking an additional 25 - 30 minutes or until topping is deep brown.
- Allow pie to cool before slicing and serving.
