Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1 loaf French bread (cut into 1-inch slices)
  • 5 apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 10 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Powdered sugar and pure maple syrup for serving

Instruction

  • Begin by spraying a 9x13-inch baking dish with baking spray. Arrange the slices of bread in the pan, slightly overlapping each slice. Layer the apple slices over the bread. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, salt, cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Whisk until well blended. Pour this mixture over the apples and bread.
  • In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle over the casserole. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until set. (Bake for 30 minutes covered; then remove the aluminum foil to finish baking.) Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving. Serve with pure maple syrup.
