The following ingredients have 8 Servings

  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup (5 ounces/150 ml) water, or more if needed
  • 8 cups (approx. 1,4kg) peeled, sliced apples (about 5-6 big apples)
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice + lemon zest
  • ¾ cup (150g) sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon all spice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) boiled cider or apple juice
  • 2 Tablespoons butter, diced into small pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 Tablespoon water
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
